Labor has promised to enforce a ban on cosmetic products tested on animals! Finally, Australia is moving forwards and taking animal cruelty seriously following other countries, such as New Zealand, where after similar bans are already in place.
The ban will be effective as of July 2017 and will apply to all cosmetics ranging from toothpaste, perfumes and makeup. While it only applies to new products and not items that are already for sale in Australia, we still see this as a big step forwards towards a cruelty free Australia.
As quoted by Assistant Health Minister, Ken Wyatt, “Testing the ingredients of cosmetics on living creatures is a completely unnecessary cruelty and it’s time Australia joined a growing number of communities by banning it.”
